Cinnamon Glass Candy
First Batch Christmas 2021
We tried to make several
flavors for Christmas 2022. Trying to work with 3 pots was a bit tough for me. This time I will make sure to have cinnamon! I wonder if other people still make this treat as I will again make a few flavors for friends and family Christmas 2024.
I would love to hear from anyone who
does. Email me: jeanniektrew@gmail.com
Jeannie loves to "pittle" as she puts it. One of her favorite patterns is the Yo Yo design. This hobby is relaxing to her. It is actually called a slow sew project. Working on a comforter for some 20 years seems slow for sure! Here is a sneek preview of that slow sew in the making. Can anyone top how slow this is for 1 king comforter! Doubt it ??
Nov. 2024 update on project progress - Well folks time has sped by and I am still working on this crazy project. I had my 5 sections all ready to connect and I decided to lay them out before I did so. Being the novice I am, I did NOT consider that the sections would be just a little less long from top to bottom of the bed. It is just a bit too short and I do not want to be tugging at it trying to make sure that it fits right. You all know what that means. I bought another 5 yards of a decent blue match and am now marking and will make another 456 yo yo pieces to sew together and then row together to add inbetween my 5 sections. I thought that I was done with the cutting and making yo yo pieces folks!! It will take me some time to get all this done. My work supervisor of 14 years took ill and shortly passed away March 26, 2024. Since he was ill from last year before the holidays and then died, I just could not pick up my yo yo project to work on it. This little project has some rules to go by. I cannot do this if I am feeling upset or angry or have things on my mind that keep me from "interrupting discouraging thoughts. Somehow, grieving the loss of my good friend, supervisor, extra father figure, and spiritual hero, caused me to not even place work into my comforter that would remind me of just how sad losing our beloved Dr. Oliver McMahan made everyone here at work and my world. BUT come January 2025 I will be picking this some 22 year project back up and finish it in his honor as well as honoring the fabric of my life it represents for the last 22 years.
I never really learned to sew and I am left handed at that so doing this "interruption craft" and making each color material represent something in my life means much to me. There is a story about my little "pittle" thing. I will have to tell you that story one day.
You are always welcome to come visit us here at Trewville. I am always trying to learn about more "old ways" and trying to catch up where I didn't learn as much living in Cleveland in the early years. Please come show me your "old ways". I am ready to learn something new and do some new and different things. Life slips by so quickly.
Holiday Candy making
I do make a variety of holiday candies and some heavy duty cakes during Thanksgiving and Christmas. What is your favorite cake? Cookie? Candy? Let me know please. Sadly, this 2024 year has been a time when I did not do as much for any holiday. I am getting back on my "old ways" track though. jeanniektrew@gmail.com
Homemade Vanilla Extract
Folks - I tried my hand at homemade Vanilla Extract 4 years ago but it was not ready by Christmas 2021 OR 2022 OR even 2023 for gifts so I am keeping it until it is "right". I went back and rechecked just how many beans to place in my pint jars but it still just tastes like alcohol. Has Anyone tried this???? I would love to know how yours turned out. Let me know. I DECIDED THAT IF IT IS NOT VANILLA BY CHRISTMAS 2024, WE SHOULD JUST DRINK IT AS IT IS MADE WITH VODKA AND NOT WASTE MY EFFORT. I WILL LET YOU ALL KNOW HOW THAT GOES. HA HA
